Our organization has become a member of the Internet Society Foundation
We are pleased, honored to inform the Libyan community in general and the technical community in particular of the approval of the #Internet_Society on the presence of the organization among its members officially, and among those who have the right to vote, influence and decide in the Internet community globally.
The #Internet_Society is a global non-profit organization, founded in 1992. It includes major organizations, non-governmental institutions, international companies influential in the technology and Internet sector, experts, universities, colleges and academies, to name a few: Ericsson, Amazon, Google, Juniper, AT&T, Facebook, Mozilla, Nokia, AFRINIC and other major international institutions.
The Internet Society works to govern the Internet, free it from any restrictions, share technologies and strategies, and bring the voice of communities to global decisions regarding the Internet, whose influence reaches the United Nations, ICANN, companies that own social media platforms, governments, and bodies.
Our presence as a Libyan community entity in the Internet community will allow us to: participate in determining community priorities, strategies and plans, vote in community councils, bring studies, strategies and experiences to Libyan society, form professional relationships with international institutions in the same field, and many other capabilities and benefits.
We also cooperated during the first year of our membership in the Internet community on amendments and additions to the first drafts of the general policy for e-mail for Libyan institutions, which was issued pursuant to Government Resolution No. 563 of 2021. Shortcomings and loopholes in technology and communications legislation were discussed, and some communications and correspondence with icann in the Arab region to clarify the status of the national domain. ccTLD or what is known as ly.
We are all proud of this membership and this presence on global arenas in accordance with Libyan legislation and law, and we are awaiting the next announcement of the organization’s membership in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), so that the organization can be a bridge of knowledge and experience between the Libyan civil technical community and various societies, and the transfer of technical transformation strategies.
All thanks and appreciation to those who supported the organization in reaching these advanced stages.
Board of Directors of the Libyan Organization for Information and Communications Technology.
