The “Fathers of Technology” project seeks to spotlight these unsung heroes by documenting their professional journeys, celebrating their contributions through a national event worthy of their impact, and building a knowledge archive that passes on their passion and expertise to the younger generations leading today’s digital transformation.
About the Project
The Fathers of Technology project is a national initiative aimed at documenting and honoring the pioneers who contributed to the establishment and development of Libya’s technology and telecommunications sector during its early stages. The project highlights their roles in building digital infrastructure, founding technology institutions, and developing the policies and systems that formed the foundation of the sector as it exists today in Libya. It also connects these pioneering experiences to the country’s ongoing digital transformation journey, supporting the continuity of knowledge-sharing and sector development.
The project is implemented based on clear and defined criteria for selecting honorees. Chief among these is that the nominee must have played a foundational role or had a direct impact on establishing or advancing technology-related entities or initiatives with lasting influence, whether within the public sector, private sector, or civil society.
Objectives
Celebration and Recognition
Organizing a high-level national ceremony that brings together pioneers, current generations of technology professionals, and leaders from both the public and private sectors.
Preserving the National Memory
Professionally documenting and archiving the journeys of at least 10 to 25 pioneering figures who contributed to the establishment of Libya’s technology sector, and publishing their stories through digital platforms.
Empowering and Sustaining the Technology Community
By strengthening intergenerational collaboration, creating interactive platforms that connect pioneers with young professionals, and showcasing successful national role models as inspiring references that support capacity building, digital transformation policies, and information governance development.
