Libyan Technology Foundation participated in Libya-AFRINIC Engagement Day 2026, a workshop organized by the General Authority for Communications and Informatics in cooperation with the African Network Information Centre (AFRINIC), on October 29, 2026, at the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli.

The event brought together representatives of telecommunications companies, Internet service providers, and national domain registrars, alongside experts, academics, and representatives of regional and international organizations involved in Internet governance and resource management.

The workshop addressed ways to develop Libya’s digital infrastructure, accelerate the adoption of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), improve Internet number resource management, and expand technical and institutional cooperation with AFRINIC.

The sessions explored the current state of IPv6 adoption in Libya, technical readiness, and the requirements for a gradual transition, including Libyana’s experience with IPv6 deployment. Experts from AFRINIC, alongside representatives of ICANN and RIPE NCC, also delivered presentations on Internet number resource management and international best practices in network development.

Discussions further examined the development of Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) in Libya and their role in keeping local Internet traffic within domestic networks, reducing latency, improving service quality, and strengthening the resilience and continuity of digital infrastructure.

Libyan Technology Foundation recognizes the value of such gatherings in facilitating knowledge exchange and coordinating efforts between national stakeholders and regional partners. These discussions also contribute to capacity building and network development in line with international standards.

LTF remains committed to engaging with initiatives that strengthen African technical cooperation and support the development of digital infrastructure and digital transformation in Libya.
