Visit of National Information Security & Safety Authority team to the Libyan Organization for Information Technology and Telecommunication. 

Tripoli, 1st Feb 2024 

The National Information Security & Safety Authority team visited the HQ of the Libyan Organization for Information Technology and Telecommunication start accrediting the organization as an institution that applies information security and safety policies in accordance with best practices and adherence to the set of established standards. 

This meeting comes as the first meeting after the request of our organization and aims to reach the final examination and scrutiny before the organization is officially accredited. 

The importance of this accreditation: 

  • Improving information security and integrity within the organization: Adopting the organization will help to apply best practices in the field of information security and integrity, which will lead to better protection of its data and systems from cyber risks. 
  • Enhancing the trust of partners, sponsors and members: The organization’s accreditation indicates its commitment to the highest standards of security and safety, which will enhance the confidence of everyone who is dealing with it. 
  • Improving the level of services provided: The application of best practices in the field of information security and integrity will help improve the efficiency and effectiveness of services, projects and initiatives provided by the organization. 
  • NISSA will assess the information systems and systems of the LOITC. 
  • The authority will make recommendations to improve the security and integrity of information in the organization. 
  • After the recommendations are implemented, the Authority will conduct a final review before the organization is officially accredited. 

The annual meeting of the Libyan Organization for Information Technology and Telecommunication

The annual meeting of the Libyan Organization for Information Technology and Telecommunication was held on Saturday in the presence of many of its members 

At the meeting, the members discussed the financial reports, budget and achievements of the organization in the past year 2023, in addition to the most important activities and projects that are being prepared and the annual plan for 2024. 💼📊 

We thank all the members for their active participation and for taking the time to attend with their much busyness. 

We at the Libyan Organization for Information Technology and Telecommunication look forward to achieving new successes and more giving in the future, and we affirm our commitment to strive to keep Libya abreast of global technological developments. 

Information security and integrity. Capacity building 

Digital transformation, with its necessity and usefulness, carries risks on the other hand, represented in cyberattacks and intrusions, and to protect institutions and their databases, it requires digital security and protection, the risks come whenever the importance of institutions and the sensitivity and confidentiality of information according to data classification. 

Within the last phase of the digital transformation training package on information security and safety policies (protection and privacy) in the capacity building project with the Libyan Audit Bureau, accompanied by the trainer, Mr. Khaled Embarek, Director of Systems and Applications Department at NISSA. 

Cybersecurity, and its risks to information technology between its concept, importance, objectives and associated threats. 

The course comes in providing participants with and empowering them in the concept of cybersecurity and its importance, introducing them to the types of threats and their sources, and providing them with the necessary skills to apply various cyber protection methods, international legal and regulatory requirements and the most important basic measures to secure data processing. 

Training, development. Capacity Building 

Raising the efficiency of professionals and qualified with an idea and work, we started today, as part of our projects in the organization, introductory and training workshops, which aim to train and develop institutions and improve competencies in various fields. 

A package of technical, administrative, media and other practical training with a group of trainers in Libya, aimed at empowering the human resources of institutions and raising their capacity and efficiency with the highest quality, our launch with the “Libyan Audit Bureau” will be in their opening today in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Audit Bureau, in the first workshop on the “concept of legislation” introducing international and local legislation and standards in the field of information technology. 

Other stages of our training sessions until the end of September include: 

  • Supporting the State Audit Institution team in digital transformation plans 
  • Information Security and Safety Policies “Protection and Privacy” 
  • Raising the efficiency of auditors on the use of technologies and applications to increase productivity 

During this project, we work on our journey to achieve our goals and vision towards technical awareness, digital transformation and information security, in cooperation with various institutions. 

Joining the Arab Union of Non-Governmental Organizations (ANFGO) 

Officially | Libyan Organization for Information Technology and Telecommunication is a member of the Arab Union of Non-Governmental Organizations (ANFGO). 

Within the technical, scientific and research awareness, and the creation of Arab ambassadors for peace, inspiring, active and guiding for the next generation, towards a better future, we aim through our membership to: 

  • Provide formal support for issues by the Federation and mobilize efforts to follow them up. 
  • Granting honorary memberships to public figures and influencers working in technical work. 
  • Benefit from conferences, seminars and workshops held by the Federation. 
  • The right to attend the meetings of the General Assembly, participate in decision-making and vote on the items under discussion. 

We were granted a membership certificate after applying and fulfilling all the conditions, and through this membership we seek to achieve our vision in Libya and coordinate and unify efforts with the rest of the Arab organizations. 

The Arab Union for Non-Governmental Organizations: It is an Arab gathering of workers in the field of non-governmental organizations active in their fields at several levels and sectors and from various Arab countries, which was established with the aim of linking organizations in the Arab world, with the aim of institutional cooperation in all areas of work of these organizations, and networking between many passionate parties in the field of work. 

Signing a cooperation agreement with the General Board of Fairs 

A cooperation agreement in the fields of developing electronic, technical and communication services was signed today between the General board of Fairs, represented by Mr. Essam Al-Oul, and the Libyan Organization for Information Technology and Telecommunication. 

In the presence of the Executive Director of the General Authority for Exhibitions “Mr. Abu Bakr Qanuna” and the members of the Administrative Committee of the Authority. 

The agreement covered many aspects, including: 

  • Discuss proposals for local and international ICT projects related to the field. 
  • Providing and improving public consultations. 
  • Training and qualification on modern techniques and applications that help the implementers of legislation and regulations. 
  • Promoting the digital culture of the community. 
  • Support and implement plans for digital transformation. 
  • Collaborate in producing reports. 
  • Exchange of experiences and knowledge between the two parties as permitted by law. 
  • The agreement is one of the steps that will contribute to change, innovation, development, and enhance cooperation between the two sides. 

Signing a cooperation agreement with the Libyan Audit Bureau 

Steps towards digital transformation, and strategies to raise the capabilities of institutional work in the field of technology in Libya. 

We are pleased to announce that on Thursday, March 16, 2023, a technical cooperation and partnership agreement was signed between the Libyan Audit Bureau and the Libyan Organization for Information Technology and Telecommunication. 

The agreement included several items on cooperation in expertise and contribution to audit work in the field of information technology audit. 

This cooperation comes in line with the international standards of Supreme Audit Institutions, which stipulate the need to involve civil society organizations in supporting the NAO’s efforts in exercising its competencies, raising awareness of its outputs, and improving its internal work environment. 

Signing a cooperation agreement with the Libyan Authority for Scientific Research 

We are pleased to announce that on the morning of Monday, March 13, 2023, a cooperation and partnership agreement was signed with the “Libyan Authority for Scientific Research” and its representative, the Director General, Prof. Faisal Abdul Azim Al-Abdali. 

The Convention included various aspects with common objectives, the most important of which are: 

  • Working in developing scientific and research programs. 
  • Cooperation in network development and information technology research. 
  • Supporting the national projects of the Authority. 
  • Organizing and sponsoring seminars, conferences and events in disciplines of common interest. 
  • Supporting scientific and knowledge partnerships with government agencies and institutions. 

We look forward to close cooperation and future achievements, working together in achieving positive change and supporting tech communities.

The National Oil Corporation discusses ways of collaboration with LOITC 

The National Oil Corporation – one of the oldest Libyan government institutions – hosted members of our organization, Sunday morning 12-02-2023, to learn about the organization, its projects and activities, collaborate with it, and discuss ways of cooperation between the two parties. 

This session was attended by several directors of departments related to the Foundation, and some managers of the organization’s projects, namely: 

  • Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Organization and Director of the Policy Review Project. 
  • Member of the Board of Directors of the Organization and Project Manager of the Developer Summit and Technology Forum Project. 
  • Executive Director of the organization and Director of the Communications and Technology Report Project 
  • Member of the Board of Directors of the organization. 
  • Project Manager of the Libyan Journal of Technology. 

The attendees from the Foundation celebrated the members of the organization, expressed their great appreciation for their efforts in the technical field, expressed their desire for digital transformation, and their support for the existence of organized policies for technical affairs in the institution, such as the general policy of e-mail in Libyan institutions, on which they expressed their opinions and observations, and discussed how it will be worked in the institution. 

We hope that this session will be a prelude to more fruitful meetings and dialogues, which enhance the cooperation and interdependence of state institutions and civil society institutions, to complement each other in multiple technical fields.
