Libya Celebrates National Information Technology Day 2025
Today, Sunday, June 1, 2025, Libya’s National Information Technology Day was held under the organization and supervision of the Libyan Technology Foundation, with broad participation from official institutions, private sector entities, and the tech community from across the country.
This annual national event reflects the state’s commitment to the importance of technology as a key driver of sustainable development and a strategic pillar for building an advanced digital infrastructure and a knowledge-based society capable of keeping pace with global change.
On this occasion, the Libyan Technology Foundation reaffirms its commitment to continuing support for digital transformation in Libya and to strengthening the capabilities of the information technology sector by launching initiatives and projects that foster innovation, encourage tech investment, and serve national and societal priorities.
This year’s edition was distinguished by the participation of more than 25 cities across Libya and the organization of over 80 events, including tech forums, workshops, panel discussions, and specialized lectures. Notable highlights include:
- The main celebration event, attended by various supporters, partners, and tech organizations.
- The Cybersecurity Forum, organized by the National Authority for Information Security and Safety, which featured 10 sessions and lectures, as well as an international competition titled Cyber Drill.
- The Cyber Woman session, focused on raising awareness and encouraging women to specialize in cybersecurity fields.
- The launch of the 2024 National Cyber Threat Report, a 25-page publication released on the Authority’s website.
- The Developers Summit, which brought together hundreds of programmers and developers and included keynote talks, tech discussions, and the launch of several startup projects.
- A policy reform workshop for national tech policies, with the participation of stakeholders from both the public and private sectors.
- A session on Tech Auditing and Oversight, attended by representatives from banks and cybersecurity companies, supervised by the Libyan Audit Bureau.
- The launch of the “Digital Compass” magazine, a 280-page publication specializing in internet law, featuring a wide range of legal and technical articles and analyses.
The event successfully connected over 400 to 500 participants from various tech sectors and significantly contributed to reshaping the narrative that Libya is solely a land of conflict—affirming instead that Libya is also a land of hope, knowledge, and innovation.
Wishing you all the best on this special occasion.
