Libyan Technology Foundation Becomes the First to Host a RIPE Atlas Probe in Libya
A new step toward enhancing Libya’s presence in the global internet measurement network
The Libyan Technology Foundation announces its hosting of the RIPE Atlas Software Probe, becoming the first entity in Libya to host a measurement point connected to the global RIPE Atlas network.
RIPE Atlas is a global initiative managed by RIPE NCC to measure internet performance and analyze its operational infrastructure. Its probes continuously perform measurements covering latency, traceroute, reachability, and DNS functionality, along with key metrics related to connection stability and quality.
Hosting a RIPE Atlas Probe in Libya represents more than just adding a technical node to a global network. It establishes an independent measurement point from within the country, delivering a more accurate picture of internet connection quality and routing paths between Libyan networks and global services.
Through this initiative, the Foundation primarily aims to support scientific and technical research by building a data-driven understanding of international connectivity, analyzing routing paths, monitoring disruptions, and building the necessary technical insight to improve internet resilience in Libya.
Integrating Libya into this global measurement framework marks a significant milestone toward providing transparent, precise data on the state of the country’s internet landscape—empowering researchers, the tech community, and decision-makers with actionable, evidence-based insights.
