About the Forum:

In light of the rapid digital transformation and the increasing reliance on data and information in institutional operations, Informatics Governance has become a strategic necessity to ensure information security and quality, achieve regulatory compliance, and improve institutional performance. As challenges related to information and data management continue to grow, there is a pressing need to establish national platforms for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and capacity building in this field.

The Informatics Governance Forum in Libya emerges as a national initiative aiming to highlight the importance of implementing governance concepts within Libyan institutions, discuss the current state of policies and legislation, explore technical and organizational challenges, and review best practices both locally and internationally.

Forum Objectives:

  1. Raising Awareness of IT Governance
    • Promote awareness about the importance of IT governance and its impact on enhancing institutional performance.
    • Showcase successful experiences in applying governance to improve the efficiency and sustainability of technological systems.
  2. Addressing Local Challenges
    • Present practical solutions and actionable ideas to tackle these challenges through new technologies or training strategies.
    • Highlight the challenges faced by institutions in Libya when attempting to implement IT governance.
  3. Policy Development
    • Develop national IT governance policies that contribute to accelerating digital transformation in both public and private institutions.
    • Align efforts to ensure sustainable growth in the information technology sector.
  4. Compliance
    • Emphasize the importance of compliance with local and international IT-related laws.
    • Discuss how institutions can align with global standards such as GDPR.
  5. Enhancing Regional and International Cooperation
    • Host local and international experts to facilitate knowledge exchange and develop joint IT strategies.
    • Foster collaboration with regional and international organizations to achieve broader integration in the field of information technology.
