The Libyan Foundation for Technology participated in a workshop organized by the General Authority for Communications and Informatics (GACI) this morning, Sunday, February 15, 2026, at its headquarters in Tripoli. The workshop was held under the title: “The Future Vision for Data Center Services and Cloud Computing within the Framework of the National Telecommunications Strategy.”

The event saw extensive attendance from GACI engineers and supervisors, alongside representatives from various ministries, government agencies, banks, public companies, security apparatuses, and civil society organizations, as part of a broad national dialogue on the future of Libya’s digital infrastructure.

The workshop addressed several key pillars, including the regulation of data centers and cloud computing, cybersecurity, data governance, and the relationship between data centers and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Participants reviewed relevant sections of the National Strategy for Communications and Informatics (2023–2027) concerning data centers and cloud storage, as well as the guiding manual for service providers, registration and accreditation protocols for data center providers, and the regulatory conditions for cloud computing.

Discussions emphasized the importance of data center compliance with cybersecurity standards, data classification based on impact and significance, and strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors and academic institutions. This collaborative approach aims to achieve an integrated national policy for data governance, thereby consolidating digital sovereignty and supporting sustainable digital transformation.

This participation aligns with the vision of the Libyan Foundation for Technology to support national digital policies and foster a balanced legislative and regulatory environment. Such efforts contribute to building a secure and sustainable digital sector that serves social and economic development in Libya.
