National Technology Day – 2026

June FIRST , Libya celebrated the National Technology Day in its various cities and institutions, in a scene that reflected the growing status of technology and its role in shaping the future.
This occasion witnessed a number of important milestones, most notably the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Libyan Technology Foundation and the Ministry of Youth – Libya, and the signing of another memorandum of understanding with the Higher Committee for Implementing the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, consisting of the Libyan Audit Bureau and the National Anti-Corruption Authority, in support of digital transformation paths and in enhancement of institutional cooperation.
Also, the summary of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) report on human capacity development was released, and the branch of the Libyan Information Technology Foundation was opened in the city of Benghazi, in a step that reflects the expansion in supporting technical initiatives nationwide.
The day also witnessed the launch of the Artificial Intelligence Ethics Charter 2026, and the announcement of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2026 – 2030, representing a step towards building a national framework that keeps pace with the rapid developments in this field.
Also among the most prominent launches is the Libyan Audit Bureau’s announcement of the “Athar” platform for oversight tasks, which was developed to enhance the efficiency of oversight work, support digital transformation, consolidate the principles of transparency, and raise the effectiveness of institutional performance.
Excerpts from a day that was not just an annual celebration, but a national station that witnessed initiatives, partnerships, and launches whose effects will remain extended to what comes after this.

Within the framework of strengthening national cooperation and consolidating the principles of integrity and transparency, the Libyan Technology Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Higher Committee for Implementing the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, with the aim of unifying efforts and benefiting from modern digital technologies in supporting anti-corruption programs and enhancing institutional governance and transparency.
The memorandum aims to develop areas of joint cooperation in digital transformation, capacity building, exchanging experiences and knowledge, and supporting technical initiatives that contribute to raising the efficiency of institutional performance and enhancing accountability and societal oversight.
The two parties confirmed that this partnership represents an important step towards employing technology as an effective tool to support integrity and transparency, and contributing to achieving the goals of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, in a way that serves the public interest and enhances the path of sustainable development.

Information Governance Forum in its second edition

The Information Governance Forum was not just a passing technical event…

But a pivotal national milestone, where visions and expertise came together to shape the features of a more aware, organized, and future-ready digital phase.

Over the course of an intensive day, the forum discussed through its technical sessions key topics including smart cities, digital infrastructure, cybersecurity, digital education, electronic payments, governance of the national domain (.LY), and the role of government platforms in enhancing transparency.

The forum also witnessed active participation from national entities, experts, and specialists, which contributed to enriching discussions and unifying visions towards building a more secure and sustainable information environment.

At the conclusion of its preparatory meetings, the Advisory Committee of the Information Governance Forum held its third and final meeting, which resulted in full agreement on all organizational frameworks and thematic tracks of the forum. The meeting brought together a distinguished group of national representatives, including:

During this concluding session, participants reviewed all technical and logistical arrangements, and the forum’s final thematic tracks were approved following a comprehensive review of the proposed technical topics, ensuring alignment with Libya’s current digital landscape and strategic objectives. These meetings culminated in the development of a unified vision among all participating entities, as attendees collectively affirmed the readiness of the forum’s tracks and discussion topics, emphasizing the importance of this step in establishing a solid foundation for information governance policies. The Libyan Technology Foundation reaffirmed that this national alignment reflects its commitment to fostering an advanced digital environment and highlights its role as a hub for national expertise and talent working together to build a digital infrastructure based on international standards and best practices.

Libyan Technology Foundation Leads Digital Transformation Initiative with Ministry of Youth

In the framework of enhancing institutional cooperation and supporting digital transformation paths in youth programs and initiatives, the Minister of Youth, Engineer Haitham Al-Zahhaf, held a meeting on April 28, 2026, with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan Technology Foundation, Mr. Amin Saleh, and the Foundation’s team, and that was in the presence of the directors of the departments of programs, activities, projects, and youth initiatives at the Ministry.

The meeting dealt with the horizons of cooperation in technical fields related to youth, including the development of digital work systems, and the employment of artificial intelligence technologies in supporting youth programs, and enhancing technical awareness in the fields of internet governance and the safe and responsible use of technology.

It was also emphasized the importance of directing technology to serve youth, and enabling them to acquire the digital skills necessary for active participation in digital transformation paths, innovation, and technical entrepreneurship.

The Libyan Technology Foundation valued the support of the Ministry of Youth for its programs and initiatives directed at youth, confirming its commitment to continuing work with national institutions to enhance technical awareness, building capacities, and expanding opportunities for youth to benefit from modern technology tools in what serves digital development in Libya.

Libyan Technology Foundation Sings Strategic MoU Combat Financial crimes (2026)

Libyan Foundation signed a (MoU) Memorandum of Understanding with the Financial Crimes, Anti-Money Laundering, and Counter-Terrorism Financing Bureau.

This took place on the sidelines of the announcement ceremony for the Bureau’s Strategic Plan and its Operational and Supplementary Manuals, held on Monday morning, April 20, 2026, at the National Economic and Social Development Board in Tripoli.

This memorandum comes within the framework of enhancing institutional cooperation between the two sides and supporting national efforts aimed at consolidating the principles of transparency, governance, and compliance, as well as combating financial crimes, money laundering, and terrorism financing through the employment of technical and cognitive expertise and capacity building in related fields.

The announcement ceremony was attended by several officials and representatives of governmental, judicial, and academic bodies, as well as national and international organizations. The ceremony featured a review of the Bureau’s Strategic Plan and the Operational and Supplementary manuals, including the visions, goals, values, and standards they contain that contribute to developing institutional and regulatory performance and strengthening the financial crime-fighting system in Libya.

Libyan Foundation for Technology emphasizes that the signing of this memorandum represents an important step towards expanding national partnerships in the fields of Digital governance and institutional compliance, raising technical and legal awareness of the risks of financial crimes, and supporting the building of a more transparent and secure environment for the national economy.

Furthermore, the Foundation expresses its appreciation to the Financial Crimes, Anti-Money Laundering, and Counter-Terrorism Financing Bureau for its efforts in developing institutional work tools, promoting a culture of prevention and combat, and openness to partnerships with various stakeholders from the public sector, academic institutions, civil society organizations, and specialized experts.

The Libyan Foundation for Technology renews its commitment to continue working with its national partners to support responsible digital transformation, enhance governance, build capacities, and develop policies and practices that contribute to protecting institutions, the economy, and society from financial and digital risks.

The National AI Strategy Meeting Libya marks a key milestone in advancing artificial intelligence and digital transformation efforts.

Libyan Technology Foundation, represented by its Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, participated in the expanded meeting hosted by the General Information Authority in Tripoli on April 26, 2026. The meeting was held under the patronage of the Minister of State for Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence and included several national entities involved in developing Libya’s National Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2025–2030.

The Foundation’s participation reflects its commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at advancing digital transformation, strengthening governance frameworks for emerging technologies, and enhancing partnerships between the public sector, private sector, academic institutions, and civil society organizations. This collaboration aims to ensure a structured transition from strategy development to practical implementation.

During the meeting, the National Artificial Intelligence Charter—prepared by the General Authority for Communications and Informatics—was reviewed. The charter outlines key principles related to ethics, transparency, and AI governance, serving as a foundational pillar for implementing the national strategy.

The Libyan Technology Foundation commends the efforts of all national stakeholders, particularly the Ministry of State for Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence, the General Authority for Information, and the General Authority for Communications and Informatics, along with all participating partners in this national initiative.

Visit of the Wizards Robotics Team

We were pleased today to host a group of outstanding students from the Wizards Robotics Team on an introductory visit to the organization, aimed at giving them insight into our work, activities, and various projects.

During the visit, the students learned about our key initiatives and the role of technology in supporting governance and digital transformation. The visit also included engaging discussions around their ideas and interests in robotics and modern technologies.

We strongly believe in the importance of supporting and empowering youth who are passionate about technology, and in opening channels of communication to foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

Our participation in the strategic workshop for data center service roadmaps

The Libyan Foundation for Technology participated in a workshop organized by the General Authority for Communications and Informatics (GACI) this morning, Sunday, February 15, 2026, at its headquarters in Tripoli. The workshop was held under the title: “The Future Vision for Data Center Services and Cloud Computing within the Framework of the National Telecommunications Strategy.”

The event saw extensive attendance from GACI engineers and supervisors, alongside representatives from various ministries, government agencies, banks, public companies, security apparatuses, and civil society organizations, as part of a broad national dialogue on the future of Libya’s digital infrastructure.

The workshop addressed several key pillars, including the regulation of data centers and cloud computing, cybersecurity, data governance, and the relationship between data centers and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Participants reviewed relevant sections of the National Strategy for Communications and Informatics (2023–2027) concerning data centers and cloud storage, as well as the guiding manual for service providers, registration and accreditation protocols for data center providers, and the regulatory conditions for cloud computing.

Discussions emphasized the importance of data center compliance with cybersecurity standards, data classification based on impact and significance, and strengthening partnerships between the public and private sectors and academic institutions. This collaborative approach aims to achieve an integrated national policy for data governance, thereby consolidating digital sovereignty and supporting sustainable digital transformation.

This participation aligns with the vision of the Libyan Foundation for Technology to support national digital policies and foster a balanced legislative and regulatory environment. Such efforts contribute to building a secure and sustainable digital sector that serves social and economic development in Libya.
